and I am extremely fascinated by the natural world.

My name is Daniel

(as you might have guessed already)

Often, you'll spot me crouched on the ground, enthusiastically observing every little creature, or gazing out of the window to catch a glimpse of airborne animals.

My infatuation with nature took root during my upbringing on a farm. Amidst the multitude of animals and pets we cared for, my parents played a pivotal role in nurturing my love for the outdoors. My father, a veterinarian, would enlighten me about the intricate workings within living bodies, while my mother, a passionate gardener, introduced me to the complexities of plant life. In the face of my sister's disdain for snails, I gladly embraced the duty as the older brother of finding the slimiest garden inhabitant to present to her.

Beyond these experiences, it's the sheer magnificence of nature that captivates my attention. Beyond the flashy allure of certain species with their mesmerizing eyes and splendid plumage, the true allure lies at a deeper level. Nature isn't just an assembly of diverse life forms; it's a meticulously woven tapestry of organisms, each with a designated role. Eons of time have been invested to refine their forms and functions to harmoniously fulfil these roles. This interconnected world operates as a collaborative symphony, an indispensable realm that we must safeguard— protect it from ourselves.

This very motivation propelled me to pursue a study of biology, specializing in ecology and ethology. Later, I intertwined this passion with a degree in documentary directing. My journey led me to the film academy in Brussels, where I stumbled upon an upcoming Belgian nature documentary series. Without hesitation, I submitted my application and secured a role in the production well before my graduation.
